~WELCOME TO GRATUITOUSNONHUMANTY
The Community for DeviantART's Resident Otherkin Population

PDA:
Public Display of Affection.

We don't want to see it, folks.  you can '/me kisses soandso lovingly' in your own private chatroom, if you must.  The occasional friendly hug is allowed, but kissing is a no-no.  It's been voted in by the people who attended the staff meeting.   We at GNH have decided 'PDA IS NOT OKAY."  Thank you for going along with our requests.  Please follow the rule or suffer the concequences.

Yay! My envy can rest. :D
"/me has jealousy issues"

& Calling people into #Carsinmotion usually doesn't have to do w/ PDA. I only like to talk to certain ppl about my nonhumanty so I invite them in there at times.

Otherwise, I would prefer you didn't just walk into my room. Ban inflation is on the rise. kthx.

Rather militant tilt to this journal, but I suppose people CAN do their PDA's elsewhere as mentioned. But could you be a bit more specfic? After all, I nuzzle people in greeting; is that considered a hug, or a kiss, and is it permissible, or a banning offense? What about abasing yourself before your alphas (or whatever your species considers leaders of your kind)? Licking in greeting or parting? What some people call PDA's are simple common courtesy to others. I'd hate to get kicked before I'm ever allowed to join because of a social faux-pas.

I'm sorry. I was watching people "bite the hind legs" of their mate while I was reading it. I think there is a fine line between role play/ fursona play, and I really detest to see it crossed. If you are doing it as a general greeting, it will not count against you, but if there is romantic intent behind it, please don't do it. Especially repeatedly. By the way, you should stop by the chatroom :3 Really, I think the mods will be able to tell the difference between what is a banable offense and simply normal behavior. You probably have nothing to worry about, and if you do, we'll tell you, and we won't ban you right away

Thanks for the prompt response! Yikes, I see what you mean. There is indeed a fine line between role play/fursona play, and no, I do my amorous licking in private, lol. I was by the chatroom Friday, and no one answered (not even the bot, lol), so I was biding my time until the room was populous again, lol.

alright, i realize i am no longer a part of gnh, not big on chats anymore, however ild like to offer some advice as a friend and a member from way back when. you are passing a lot of very silly restrictions, the most absurd i think being the banning of 'chat speak'. now i dont advocate for the use of chat speak, i think it is a leech on the english language, however, one of the things that made gnh great was people where free to act how the wanted, under two very simple, and very fair rules. Respect each other at all times, and follow the deviantart chat room rules. Its killing the very idea of equality and acceptance by saying "suchandsuch can not be a part of this chat room unless he changes the way he talks" I understand that chat speak can be very annoying to some, but the underlaying theme that made gnh great was tolerance and acceptance. and as to this topic of banning PDA, whats wrong with showing some love? its really just an expression of deeper emotion through writing, not particularly good writing, but writing. As long as it follows deviant arts regulations i do not see a why it is a problem. This is simply my two cents as a former member, and as a friend =) hope you read it and keep what i wrote in mind

I understand what you're saying, but as Blitz said, there have been some recent problems that cannot be ignored. The banning of chat speak is because of several reasons. Not only can I not understand it, I personally think it is vile and brings down the credibility and intelligence to those who succumb to using it. Darzie's lack of rules resulted in problems when I took over, and as I am trying to keep this comfortable for everyone who really is in there chatting and contributing, some things had to change. They're given time, and I think that it's better to break chat speak. We already know our generation have enough bloody problems. We tolerated chat speak. We still tolerate it to an extent. We don't ban the first time we see it, we give people time to correct their ways before we take action.

And as far as PDA, you have to be in there to see how bad it gets. The problem with showing love in public is that the less fortunate people around you are often driven into depression, turmoil and uncomfortableness when they have to witness love. I figure messenger works fine for love related things.

I do appreciate your comment, Cole. It's welcoming to hear other views. Don't be afraid to stop by or renew your membership.

Does the use of abreviations like "ppl" for people sry for "sorry" (informal, if I sincerely wanted to say sorry to someone I'd spell it out.) & other stuff like that considered chat speak? I try not to address "higher ups" w/ any chat speak...er? Abreviations?

I just thought I should add my two cents to this. There have been some instances of unwanted and racy PDA that was making some people uncomfortable. That kind of PDA adds nothing to the chat.

These new rules are pretty much just a list of things that have become problems recently. Chat speak and leet have grown out of control and our overlord and some of our moderators do not understand it well. Limiting chat speak make it easier for them to make sure that everyone is respecting each other.
