Here's podcast number four, it focuses on activities for getting in touch with your 'kin side. Thank you all for the community input.

(Sorry for the lateness. My computer seemed to be working against me on this.) >.<

As usual, feel free to leave any feedback, ideas, Q&A replies, music ideas, etc either in this journal or as a note to the community or ~Eliw00d himself, we'd really appreciate it!

This week's Question: How do you deal with people who cannot accept/do not believe in Otherkin?

Sorry for the loooong reply!

The naive ones are just spiritless people too self absorbed or mislead to have any faith in the possibility of the 'unknown', or respect those who deeply believe it.
Sometimes, it isn't their fault. Like Religion and society, pinning people down, raising them to believe people with animal souls are demonic, and vampires and witches are 'children of the devil' or such.
Some see Therians as tree hugging, animal obsessed hippies, or wannabe Werewolves, or fursuit fanatics.
These opinions are so outdated, yet so many still cling to them, because they want to.

I just sweep those people under the rug, and tell myself that their lives will never be fulfilled until they can respect others, and be open to the possibilities of the great unknown.
I feel they are missing out on so much spiritual growth, and we should just let them get on with it.
Same with racism, sexism, homophobia, religious prejudice.
The people who support hate of any demoralizing kind.
It's their choice to live in ignorance, and they won't change.
Just prepare yourself for what lies ahead, and don't lose hope in yourself.

This week's Question: How do you deal with people who cannot accept/do not believe in Otherkin?

I have yet to run into someone that I told and doesn't believe it entirely. But there is someone whom sees it in a negative light, and thinks that I'm haunted now. But after talking about how I can't sometimes separate my dreams from reality, he seems to have shoved that possibility out of the way. And now acts like nothing is different about me. So I guess I lucked out, but not at the same time.

However, I would ask why someone doesn't believe it. If it's a dumb reason like "blahblahblah can't be proven" then I'll try to find something that they believe and point out that it has yet to be proven. If it's a legit reason, then I'll consider it for a while, and if I come up with a way to disprove their idea, I'll tell them. So long as they can handle it.

if you are still looking for music then may i point out [link] all his music is really good and most of it sounds to be just what you are looking for in my opinion

as for the question of the week, i need to add that im not a Otherkin yet seeing that i just found out about it but i am a Fox by nature and i can relate to the question kinda

anyway, when im feeling that im with someone that i think wont like that idea that i like to class myself as a Fox then i like to do one of two things, i ether 1. just not tell them and hide it and let them find out on small parts to see what they are going to think/do about it or 2. ill hang out with another Fox and put it into view of the other person that its not really a bad thing, heh traveling in packs helps others see it in a better way, and helps one be more open about it, or so i think ^^

Nice work Izzey!
(next time make it an MP3 rather then a WAV please xD)

I would like to be interviewed!
I'm back, sort of.
Please do give me a list of questions before we start recording so I can have at least a few 10 minutes to prepare some sane answers.

"How do you deal with people who cannot accept/do not believe in Otherkin?"
Well first of all, I don't talk about otherkinism in my daily life. It's something personal for me. I do like to promote otherkin awareness, I'd like people to know what it is and that it exists. But I do not demand otherkin acceptance. I would like people to have their own opinions on this matter. So my answer to how I deal with otherkin intolerance would be: I don't. I believe what I want and encourage others to do the same.

I'll throw in some musics to use later!

i usualy dont try to tell people what i am unless i know they would understand or listen to me so they could understand. i usualy hang out with people who have such open minds im suprised that things arent living there (well maybe there are for some people) but if what i was slipped to someone else who was not so ... understanding. i guess i would live with it. i would accept that what they believe and what i believe are different. it would just be like coming out of the in the middle of a class of students in high school as a freshman again. sooner or later they will get bored or come to accept you for what you are because they cant change it.

I only really make it public knowledge when its to my advantage, just like anything else about myself. I wear a cross ring for much the same reason. I only ever come out to people who are already aware of such things in a positive light.

I imagine I would handle it in much the same way I handle anyone else who disagrees with me: show them the error of their ways and bring them inevitably around to my view of things. The closest its come to failing is playing someone to a draw for a few hours. No one beats the Fundamental Assumption.

very good job Izzy =)

about the Q&A:
when I told my parents about my dragon being, they called me crazy. it resulted in a depression and months of visiting a psychologist. it didn't had any resulted.
nowadays it seems like I never told them. it never get mentioned, even when I give a slight hint about it. they just ignore. I think they dont wanna know it.

those are actually the only humans who don't believe me.

if I ever met someone who doesn't believe me, I think I'd just ignore them. it's their choice to believe it. I don't force them to believe it, I just want them to respect it.

I hope this answers the question =)
